Daisies are sometimes given to congratulate new mothers.They also mean transformation because of the Roman myth of Vertumnus and Belides. Vertumnus, god of seasons and gardens, became enamored with Belides, a nymph. He continuously pursued her, and in order to escape his affections she turned herself into a daisy. Daisy’s scientific name Bellis, stems from this story.

Floral aromatherapy (Rose)

Sweet and romantic, these scents are the "good girls" of the fragrance aisle. Florals are sometimes single note, but generally, combine the scents of various flowers to create a classic feminine appeal. Spritz on a floral when you want to show off (or fake) your sweet-and-girly side. These scents are also appropriate at church, the ballet, or your best friend's wedding, especially if you've got your eye on an eligible groomsman or bridesmaid.

 In tarot, the rose is considered a symbol of balance. The beauty of this flower expresses promises, hope, and new beginnings. It is contrasted by thorns symbolizing defense, loss, and thoughtlessness. A yellow rose symbolizes joy, protection against envious lovers, and a mature love.

Fruity aromatherapy (Tulip)

Like a cheerleader with a wicked side, fruity perfumes are fresh and spicy. These fragrances please the nose with the bright and familiar smells of apple, peach, berry, mango and other juicy fruits, often blended with florals to create a compelling aroma.

 Tulips originated in Central Asia and became very popular in Turkey. The tulip’s name comes from the Persian word for turban, because in full bloom tulips have a turban-like shape.

Tulips commonly mean perfect love. The meaning of perfect love is tied to a Turkish and Persian legends about the love between Farhad and Shirin. There are a few variations of this tale. According to one story, Farhad was a prince. He was in love with a beautiful girl named Shirin. Unfortunately, Shirin is murdered, and this tears Farhad apart. In desperation, Farhad rides his horse of a cliff, and a red tulip grows where his blood touches the ground — the symbol for perfect love.

The most common meaning for tulips is perfect or deep love. Because tulips are one of the first flowers to bloom in the spring, they can mean rebirth. Victorians often associated tulips with charity.

Oceanic aromatherapy (Lavender)

Oceanic perfumes are a modern invention. These scents use a blend of synthetic compounds to evoke natural aromas such as mountain air, ocean spray or clean linen. Oriental aromatherapy (Lotus)

Think of oriental perfumes as the fragrance exotic and distinctly sensual, these blends feature an earthy, animalistic base scent such as musk or ambergris, often combined with warm notes such as amber. When combined with florals, these scents are called "florientals". The effect is a bold yet mysterious perfume that makes a big entrance, tosses back a few martinis, and leaves with phone numbers in her pocket. The Lotus is a delicate flower with many layered petals arrayed around a central core. Spicy aromatherapy (Poppy)

Poppies come in many colors, but they’re typically dressed in red, the chakra color corresponding to the Muladhara. We blossom at our crown only when we can move well-being up through our roots. The poppy also represents rest, beauty and success.

Woody (Chypre) aromatherapy (Sunflower)

Woody scents are built on base notes of bark and moss, conjuring winding forest paths. While more unisex than other fragrance categories, that's not to say these scents are masculine. They evoke a particular brand of no-nonsense femininity. Think Marion in Raiders of the Lost Ark, or Katharine Hepburn in any movie. A bit about choosing or buying your essential oils for mixing or aromatherapy use

Even an oil that is 100% pure may not have been processed correctly and may not provide more than a mild, pleasant fragrance. Perfumery oils, fragrance oils, and flavorings often provide a stronger pleasant fragrance, but do not offer the therapeutic benefit of true essential oils. For Aromatherapy needs it is not as significant, if it pleases you then that is all that you need to be concerned about.

The amount of therapeutically effective chemical constituents in essential oils can vary from season to season, from year to year, or vary based on where the plant is grown. The essential oil extraction process also affects how this chemical balance is maintained from the time of plant harvesting to having the essential oil arrive in your home. So, using essential oils for more then relaxing aromas be cautious and pick well distilled botanical sources.

The concern in the case of other uses with oils not being pure is a valid one. For many reasons, often related to a distiller or supplier wanting to make more money, adulteration of essential oils is a serious problem. Oils are adulterated at various stages of their production, and in many different ways. Finding an honest retailer who specializes in essential oils will minimize or remove your risk of purchasing an adulterated essential oil. Retailers who specialize in selling essential oils will be more likely to provide pure essential oils, as they will be more involved in the essential oil trade, and more likely to be concerned that their product be valid, since it is their primary source of business and reputation.
